1. Sustainability Policy
Makeup by Elisha Simon is committed to operating in an environmentally responsible way within the wedding and beauty industry. As a sole-trader bridal makeup business, the overall environmental footprint is relatively low; however, continuous improvements are made wherever practical.
Current sustainable practices include:
Careful route planning to reduce travel emissions
Limiting unnecessary journeys
Using reusable tools and palettes
Reducing single-use items where hygiene regulations allow
Digital contracts and invoicing to minimise paper waste
Responsible disposal of cosmetic waste
Selection of high-quality professional products to reduce overconsumption and product waste
Use of energy-efficient lighting within the studio environment
2. Carbon Emissions Overview
The primary source of carbon emissions within the business is travel to and from wedding venues and client locations.
Estimated annual emissions:
Wedding travel (approximately 70 weddings per year at an average 40-mile return journey): 812 kg CO₂e
Additional travel (trials, shoots and related bookings): 290 kg CO₂e
Estimated total annual emissions:
Approximately 1,102 kg CO₂e (1.1 tonnes)
This estimate is based on typical annual activity levels and will be reviewed annually using an approved emissions calculator.
3. Carbon Reduction Plan
Over the next 3–5 years, Makeup by Elisha Simon aims to reduce travel emissions through improved scheduling, clustering bookings geographically where possible, and reviewing vehicle efficiency options in the future.
Further commitments include:
Continued reduction of single-use items
Increased use of refillable products where possible
Ongoing monitoring of studio energy consumption
This policy will be reviewed annually and updated where necessary to reflect improvements and measurable progress.
